It happens. I used to go to a site called Gametalk. The entire site is dedicated to video games and yet the most populated forums were the 'special interest' topics. It was a nice community, minus the trolls, until it eventually was shut down for 'maintenance' and never came back up. There's been some tribute sites to it, but not as good.
